The benefits of Fresh Air

Ever been so stressed or overwhelmed to the extent that, communing with human beings was the last thing on your mind? I remember this other day when I was in this mood. The only thing that came into my mind at this time was to take a looong walk in the park and ponder on what looked like a miserable life. After walking for an hour and just talking to God, I was surprised by the relief and peace of mind I gained from the walk. Since then, my love for nature especially fresh air increased. This experience also enabled me to realize the importance of inhaling fresh air in my daily life. Fresh air provides healing which cannot be found in food, water or communication. It is a crucial need yet most people neglect it and therefore suffer because of its lack.

I have also noticed that, every time I visit less polluted areas for instant the park, forests or out of town places, I always leave those places in a better mood and attitude than I would have gone there with. Hitting it home, I have also realized that, whenever I leave the window a little bit open when I am ill, I tend to heal faster and feel better than when I hide myself in a hot (I love warmth by the way) room with no air ventilation occurring. With this in mind, I could personally conclude that, air has a vital element, which helps to sooth my mind. However, I would not want to just leave you with my opinions but some facts on the importance of this element called AIR.

I am sure that we can all start on the same universal fact, which is, “without air, man dies”. We can also notice that, people can live for days or even weeks without food or water but no one can live without air for more than 3 minutes; therefore, air is vitally one of the most important needs for our survival. Although this is the case, reality is however sad since millions of people suffer from a wide variety of ailments that are mainly caused by insufficient supply of oxygen. This is usually because most people do not breath enough fresh air which in turn weakens their health, happiness and their hold on life itself. The secret about blood and air is this: people ought to breathe well (as in, breath fresh air) in order to have good blood because, full breathes of pure air fill the lungs with oxygen, which then purifies the blood. The purified blood is then given a life-giving current, which is then sent to every part of the body.

"Your careful exclusion of external air, and fear of free ventilation leaves you to breathe a corrupt, unwholesome air which is exhaled from the lungs of those staying in these rooms, and which is poisonous, unfit for the support of life. The body becomes relaxed; the skin becomes sallow; digestion is retarded, and the system is peculiarly sensitive to the influence of cold. A slight exposure produces serious diseases. Great care should be exercised not to sit in a draft or in a cold room when weary, or when in a perspiration. You should so accustom yourself to the air that you will not be under the necessity of having the mercury higher than sixty-five degrees."--1 Testimonies, pp. 702-703.

With that said, it is therefore essential for each individual to make it a priority to inhale fresh air indoors as well as outdoors. Of course, this can be easily done in warmer weathers than cooler weathers, however, this can be achieved in cooler weathers by frequently heating the homes. However, if you are going to use wood fires, as you heat your home, just beware of too much heat since the burning of fuel takes away oxygen from the air.

Keeping the surrounding atmosphere with fresh air most/all of the times enables the physical organisms of the body to keep in top conditions. This is mainly because, the oxygen in the air purifies the blood, contributes to the production of the body’s heat and energy and then conveys electrical energy with which to vitalize every organ and tissue.

Dr Phillip Welsh also once stated that, “Any form of treatment—any program of health which does not give full and due consideration to the first essential of life—pure air—will absolutely fail to get the best results—yes, this one question of supplying the body with pure air is important enough to determine the difference between health and sickness—between life and death!” – Natural Remedies Encyclopedia, p. 32

This statement is therefore opposite to the ‘belief’ that “night air is harmful to the sick”. Therefore excluding air in a sick person’s room is therefore not good since air is the food for the lungs. Air should never be regarded as an enemy, but as a precious blessing to every individual- that includes you and me!
